Web Site Improvements
Here at Heinemann-Raintree, we are always on the lookout for ways to improve our web site by adding and expanding new services, features, and applications...many of which are based on your suggestions. Below are just a few we've been working on: New Acorn Read-Alouds provide an overview of the material discussed in the corresponding Acorn series at a slightly higher reading level. Our two Read-Alouds for the Fall are Comparing Colors and Comparing Materials. These bigger books introduce content and vocabulary appropriate for a unit of study, and also provide an ideal opportunity to teach nonfiction text structure. New Leveled Collections: Now you can accommodate the varied reading levels within your classroom as well as establish your own classroom library of materials to supplement your curriculum. Our Leveled Collections bring together our best books in targeted science areas in 3 different combinations so that you can choose the package that best fits your needs and your budget! Teaching Notes: Last Fall, we told you that we had Teaching Notes for 47 of our series. Since then, we have been busy as beavers creating 50 more for you! These free, downloadable documents support the instruction of text structures, text features, comprehension, and vocabulary. At the time of this posting, we offer support for 97 of our series...and we'll continue to add more throughout the year! Save your Bookbag to a Lawson File: Many of our customers need to place their orders through their school district's Lawson ordering system which has some pretty strict guidelines. Due to popular demand, we've created a one-of-a-kind feature that allows you to create the file you need with just one click! On the Bookbag page, below the usual buttons (Recalculate, Checkout, Save, etc), look for the "Export to Lawson file" link click it to save the current Bookbag to an Excel file on your computer that is automatically formatted for the Lawson system. Simply email to the file to your disctrict and they can upload it directly into their system! "Ask a Librarian" allows our visitors to interface with a staff librarian and submit inquiries on a variety of topics. Librarians and teachers can use the feature to gain assistance in selecting titles, obtain tips for promoting nonfiction, and receive advice for meeting the needs of readers. This is such a popular feature on our Library site that we are pleased to offer this distinctive and free service to our Classroom customers. Contact Us: Is there some information you'd like to see added to our pages? Perhaps there's a feature or resource that would improve your online experience? Suggestions are most welcome as some of our best web ideas have come directly from our customers! |
